The Port of Singapore has reported container throughput of 32.58 million twentyfoot equivalent units for 2013, an increase of 2.9 per cent over the 2012 figure. The port lost the title of the busiest container port to China’s Shanghai in 2010. Overall, the port handled a total cargo of 559.58 mt, constituting a year-on-year increase of 4 per cent. Further, oil transhipments increased by 5.5 per cent to hit 179.86 mt in 2013.
