The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has announced plans to commence construction works for two sections of Vietnam’s North-South high-speed railway (HSR) project before 2030. The agency is currently completing the pre-feasibility study report for the project which will be submitted to the National Assembly (NA) for approval.

The 1,545-km-long North-South HSR will pass through 20 provinces in Vietnam and will have a maximum operating speed of 320 km per hour. The HSR project is estimated to cost USD58.71 billion. However, due to the project’s large scale, technical complexity, and long implementation period, final cost is most likely to change in the future.
