PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), a state-owned energy company, has started the construction of a 500 kW Binary Organic Rankine Cycle Geothermal Power Plant (PLPT) at the Lahendong geothermal field in Indonesia. The engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning (EPCC) procurement process for the PLTP was started on July 1, 2021. PGE will operate the PLTP in accordance with their with the Green Energy and Cost Saving for operating expenditure (OPEX).

The R1233zd(E) working fluid will be used in the Binary power plant, which is a non-flammable and environmentally safe refrigerant. The plant is scheduled to start commercial operation in December 2021. The project will be carried out using the Quick Win technique.
