The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has confirmed that construction of the terminal building for the New Manila International Airport (NMIA) in Bulakan, Bulacan, Philippines, is scheduled to begin in 2026. The update follows a site inspection led by the Regional Project Monitoring Committee under the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development.
As of 2026, 80 per cent of land development, including major reclamation and land piling along the Manila Bay shoreline, will be completed. The terminal will span 2,500 hectares and is being developed by San Miguel Aero City Inc. with a design that includes five wings and 240 boarding gates. The airport is also planned to feature four parallel runways and will have the capacity for 35 to 100 million passengers annually.
The PHP735 billion project, funded and constructed by San Miguel Corporation under a Public-Private Partnership scheme, includes 21 access roads and expressways. Operations are projected to begin by 2028, with the facility reverting to government ownership at the end of the 50-year concession period authorised by Republic Act 11506.
