The China Railway Construction Electrification Bureau Group Company Limited (CRCC-EBG) has finished building all 67 communication towers along the China-Laos railway. CRCC-EBG completed the project despite the demographic and logistical challenges. The construction faced issues due to tropical uninhabited mountain terrain with complex geographical conditions and poor traffic conditions.

The China-Laos Railway is a collaboration between China’s Belt and Road Initiative and Laos’ plan to transform from a landlocked country to a connected centre. The railway will span over 400 km and has a top speed of 160 km per hour. The Laos-China Railway Company Limited, a joint venture (JV), is in charge of the railway’s construction and operation. The line will run between Boten, in northern Laos, to Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The project’s construction began in December 2016 and is expected to start operations in December 2021.
