The construction of three Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) lines in Bangkok has been postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The delayed lines include the Yellow Line, Orange Line, and Pink Line. The lines were initially 4 to 5 per cent ahead of schedule, but are now 2 to 3 per cent slower than scheduled.

The construction process was already progressing at a slow pace due to restrictions on the movement of the workers but the new COVID-19 wave has further delayed the process. The Yellow Line’s planned opening is expected to be delayed from late-2021 to early or mid-2022. The fixed opening dates for the lines are yet to be announced.
