Construction on the Kaliwa Dam project, officially named the New Centennial Water Supply project, has commenced in Metro Manila. The project is located on the Kaliwa river, located about 35 km northeast of Metro Manila, and is expected to solve the problem of frequent water outage in the area. China Energy Engineering Corporation (CEEC) will be in charge of the project’s construction, which is slated to be completed in June 2025. The dam will be able to supply approximately 600 million litres of water per day once it is completed.

The Kaliwa Dam project is a flagship project under the “Build Build Build” initiative of the Government of Philippines. The dam project is expected to boost local economy by creating Job opportunities, enhancing transportation networks, and establishing eco-tourism focused on maintaining the area’s natural environment.
