The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has commenced construction works of the Johor Bahru–Singapore rapid transit system (RTS) Link at the site of the Woodlands North station. In November 2020, Penta-Ocean Construction had secured a SGD932.8 million contract to build the underground station tunnels and the border facilities in Singapore.

LTA has awarded the second civil contract to the Singapore branch of China Communications Construction Company Limited. The contract has been valued at SGD180 million. The scope of work includes construction of the 25-metre-high viaduct across the Straits of Johor.

The Johor Bahru–Singapore RTS Link will span around 4 km and have a capacity for 10,000 passengers per hour per direction (pphpd). Passenger services are expected to commence by end-2026.
