The Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand won the Outstanding Award for Promotion of Energy Conservation and Alternative Energy at the Thailand Energy Awards 2017.

Besides, Thai Oil Public Company Limited won the Outstanding Personnel Award in the field of energy management. Thai Oil is Thailand’s largest refinery and supplier of petroleum products. It operates one of the most efficient refineries in the Asia-Pacific region with a current capacity of 275,000 barrels per day. The Outstanding Personnel Award is to recognise those who have shown outstanding efforts and perseverance in energy conservation and renewable energy development.

Inter Far East Wind International Company Limited (iWind) won an award for Outstanding Renewable Energy at the Thailand Energy Award, 2017. The company won the award in renewable energy for the category of projects connected to the electricity grid. iWind’s project is a wind turbine project, located along the shorelines of Pak Phanang district, Nakhon Si Thammarat province. It has been nominated by the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency and the Ministry of Energy to represent Thailand in the next ASEAN Energy Award 2017 in Singapore.

Buriram Sugar Company Limited (BRR) won the Outstanding Renewable Energy Award for efficient energy management of renewable energy.  BRR has a total capacity of 9.9 MW. The company aims to become a leading renewable electricity producer, integrating sustainable development of society and the environment.

The Thailand Energy Awards 2017 was organised by the Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency. The objective of the award is to commend and honour outstanding performance and contribution to the promotion of energy conservation and the development of alternative energy.

The winners of the Thailand Energy Awards competition are selected to be representatives for the ASEAN Energy Awards competition.
