Firms from Thailand and China are examining the feasibility of wind power in Myanmar. Thailand-based Gunkul Engineering Public Company Limited and China-based Three Gorges are reportedly considering setting up wind power generation facilities in separate parts of the country. Gunkul Engineering is considering the construction of windmills in the Taninthayi region and in the Mon, Kayin, and Shan states, with the aim of generating 2,930 MW of electricity.
