The Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Project, owned by China Three Gorges Corporation’s subsidiary China International Water and Electric Corporation, was awarded the National Labor Medal by Laos’s Ministry of Energy and Mine. The award recognises the power plant’s remarkable contribution to the country’s social and economic development since it began operations a decade ago.

With total installed capacity of 100 MW, the Nam Lik 1-2 Hydropower Project began construction in September 2007, and was commissioned on August 1, 2010. It has operated safely and stably for one decade and has generated 5 billion kWh of electricity as of August 1, 2020, ensuring a reliable power supply for the grid in Laos’s capital Vientiane and the country’s central region.
