The China Railway Construction Corporation has won the YMZQ-21 railway project of Yuxi-Boten connecting Laos and China. The estimated cost of the project is CNY 1.05 billion. Covering 26.54 km, the railway line starts in Yuxi, in China and ends at Boten, in Laos, and passes through Puer and Xishuangbanna. China and Laos had signed an intergovernmental railway cooperation agreement in November 2015 to modernise the railway infrastructure in Laos.
