The China Development Bank will provide a loan worth 5,097.54 billion kip to Nam Ou River Basin Hydropower Company Limited – a joint venture (JV) between Sinohydro (15 per cent stake) and Electricite du Laos (85 per cent). The fund will be used for the construction of the Nam Ou 2, 5, and 6 hydropower projects situated in Luang Prabang and Phongsaly provinces. These three plants that will have a combined capacity of 2 billion kWh per year are expected to be commissioned by 2016.
