PT Pertamina, a state-owned oil and gas company, has partnered up with United States-based Chevron to explore opportunities in low-carbon energy potential in Indonesia.

The partners will assess potential of new geothermal technologies, carbon offsets through nature-based solutions, low-carbon hydrogen development, production, storage, and transportation as well as carbon capture, use, and storage (CCUS). The partnership aims to serve Indonesia-based customers with potential to expand services to customers in the SEA region in the future.

Indonesia currently has the world’s second-largest geothermal installed capacity.
