The Changi Airport Group (CAG) has awarded a $1.12 billion contract to develop a three-runway system to a JV formed by Samsung C&T Corporation and Koh Brothers Building & Civil Engineering Contractor Limited. The contract was awarded as part of a future expansion proposal that includes the development of Changi East and Terminal 5 and the transformation of an existing third runway currently used by the military. The project is expected to be completed by 2020. The scope of the contract includes pavement and drainage works, security fencing and perimeter roads, mechanical and electrical works, and supporting works such as road diversions. To support three-runway operations at the airport, airfield specialised systems including airfield lighting, surveillance and detection systems will also be installed as part of the works.
