Malaysian operator Celcom Axiata has introduced a fibre internet service offering, on top of its existing fixed wireless network service, for residential subscribers. Dubbed Celcom Home, the service offers internet connectivity via Celcom’s fibre and wireless networks for both urban and rural communities. Celcom says this service is in line with the Malaysian government’s National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan to achieve broadband coverage of more than 98 per cent in populated areas by 2023 with a minimum broadband speed of 30 Mbps. Using fibre optic lines, the Celcom Home Fibre platform offers unlimited internet connection with speeds of up to 100 Mbps for MYR 120 per month, or speeds of 30 Mbps at MYR 80 per month. The service is available at all Celcom bluecube outlets and Celcom certified partners. Developed for residential households, Celcom Home Wireless is designed to enable internet connectivity into homes on a “plug- and-play” basis.
