The Philippines government has temporarily put on hold the bus rapid transit (BRT) system project for Cebu City. The move comes in the wake of a pending review by the Department of Transportation and Communications to assess alternatives such as LRT for the city. If implemented, the LRT is expected to cost $3 billion and be completed in a span of four years. On the other hand, the BRT system is expected to be built at a cost of $ 210 million and will span 21.5 km. AFD and the World Bank Clean Technology Fund will be funding the BRT project.
