The Government of Indonesia has requested an additional loan worth USD560 million from the China Development Bank (CBD) to finance the Jakarta–Bandung high-speed rail (HSR) project. The additional funds will be used to cover the cost overrun of USD1.2 billion. The loan repayment period is expected to be 10–15 years.

Further, it is expected that the Government of Indonesia will be the loan guarantor and will pass it over to PT KAI, the state-owned entity developing the project. The railway line is expected to commence operations by August 2023.
