The Thailand cabinet has approved a budget of about 752 million baht for the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to hire consultants to study the design of Phase 2 of the Thai-Chinese high speed electric train project. The design work is scheduled to be completed in a period of 19 months. The 355 km long rail line stretches from Nakhon Ratchasima to Nong Khai. The project is expected to entail an investment of 751.12 million baht, with work entailing a cost of 112.24 million baht to be implemented during 2019 and the remaining work involving a cost of 638.88 million baht during 2020-21. SRT will be responsible for the design of civil works of the railway project while China will offer technical assistance in the construction works.
