The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), Singapore Airlines (SIA) and Temasek Holdings Limited (Temasek) have partnered to conduct a year-long pilot programme to use sustainable aviation fuel at Singapore’s airport in an effort to reduce carbon emissions in the aviation sector. The agencies have also issued a request for proposals, inviting producers and fuel suppliers to submit strategies for delivering blended sustainable aviation fuel to Changi Airport.

The pilot will provide information about expenses and prospective pricing structures, as well as help policy considerations in the future. The project will also trail the manufacture and distribution of low-carbon fuels, with the goal of aiding Singapore’s aviation industry achieve net zero.

This move is in line with SIA’s and Temasek’s target of achieving a net zero carbon emissions portfolio by 2050.
