The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has announced plans to build nine new airports in Vietnam as a part of its 2030 vision. The airports will be located in the provinces of Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Ha Tĩnh, Kon Tum, Quang Ngai, Khanh Hoa, Dak Nang and Tay Ninh. The proposal has been submitted to the Ministry of Transport (MOT) for approval.

Feasibility reports and capital-raising plans for the airports will be undertaken by the provincial governments. Construction of the new airports will not be financed by the state budget.

This move is a part of MOT’s aim to have 28 airports in Vietnam by 2030 and 31 by 2050. Currently, there are 22 airports in the country.
