The public bus transportation system in Brunei is set to undergo a major revamp with the launch of new and improved buses. These buses have been launched in six colours, each colour specifying a particular route. Further, the country’s Ministry of Communications has upgraded the bus system by installing electronic signage, extending the hours of operation, and updating the route maps for the convenience of passengers. The ministry is working in association with the Land Transport Department, Motor Transport Licensing Authority, Traffic Control and Investigation Department of the Royal Brunei Police Force, Public Works Department, and public bus proprietors to implement the upgradation programme in multiple phases until the end of 2014. The upgradation process will initially be carried out in Brunei-Muara district, and will later be extended to Belait district.
