Brunei’s telecommunications regulator, Authority for Infocommunications Technology Industry (AITI), has begun the consultation process to develop a tariff regulation framework for the country’s telecommunications and broadcasting industry. The regulator has published a consultation paper on this subject and is soliciting feedback from stakeholders. The framework aims to ensure that the cost of telecom services is affordable to the consumer, while promoting competition between market players and ensuring regulatory stability within the industry. In April 2013, AITI appointed Detecon Asia-Pacific Limited to develop the framework.
