The 22nd ASEAN Summit was recently concluded in Brunei. The theme for the event in 2013 was “Our People, Our Future Together”. This is the fourth time that Brunei has played host to other Southeast Asian nations for talks on interregional cooperation. During the summit, leaders from different countries discussed the current progress of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) that is scheduled to be set up in 2015. So far, 77.57 per cent of the AEC blueprint has been implemented. Several key personnel from ASEAN countries engaged in bilateral talks with one another. The Prime Minister of Vietnam held meetings with counterparts of Brunei, Thailand, and Singapore, as well as the President of the Republic of the Philippines.
