Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd (BPHB) has secured an extension to operate the Bintulu Port, an LNG hub in Sarawak, till June 30, 2024. Bintulu Port Sdn Bhd (BPSB), a unit of BPHB, formalised the extension through a second interim agreement (IA) with the Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Bintulu Port Authority (BPA). There is a possibility of an additional six-month extension.
Moreover, BPHB has also secured preliminary approval to oversee Bintulu Port’s operations over a period of 30 years. The extended agreement is currently under negotiation and is expected to be finalised within the ongoing interim period.
