bp and its partners have signed three Production Sharing Contracts (PSCs) in Indonesia, increasing bp’s participation in the country’s oil and gas sector to 11 blocks. The agreements were signed under the second Indonesia Petroleum Bidding Round 2025 and involve the Bintuni, Drawa and Barong exploration blocks.

Two of the agreements cover the Bintuni and Drawa exploration blocks in Papua Barat, which are located near bp-operated Tangguh LNG facilities and could support future short-cycle developments through existing infrastructure. bp also confirmed its participation in the INPEX-operated Barong block in East Java, where the company holds a 49 per cent stake, while INPEX retains a 51 per cent operating interest. Other partners involved in the Bintuni and Drawa blocks include CNOOC Southeast Asia Limited, MI Berau B.V. and Indonesia Natural Gas Resources Muturi, Inc.

The new contracts expand bp’s long-term presence in Indonesia, where the company marks 60 years of operations in 2026. The agreements are expected to support Indonesia’s energy security objectives and strengthen domestic hydrocarbon production capacity through exploration and potential future development activities linked to existing energy infrastructure.
