The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has invited bids for five key infrastructure projects totalling PHP610.5 million for the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) ahead of the scheduled turnover to the San Miguel Corporation-led consortium. San Miguel Corporation (SMC) won the NAIA upgrade rights with an annual payment proposal of PHP2 billion, an upfront payment of PHP30 billion, and an 82.16 per cent share in earnings.

The projects include the replacement of the main vacuum circuit breaker switchgear for Terminal 3, the construction of an annexe for immigration counters in Terminal 3, the rehabilitation of the sewage treatment plant, construction of additional comfort rooms across Terminals 1, 2, and 3, and re-waterproofing of NAIA Terminal 2 roof deck. 

Bidding deadlines and project durations vary, with immigration counter construction bids closing on July 25, 2024 circuit breaker and sewage treatment plant projects on August 2, 2024, and comfort room construction on August 8, 2024. Funding comes from MIAA’s 2023 and 2024 corporate budgets.
