The Department of Transportation (DOTR) of Philippines will invite bids for the operations and maintenance (O&M) contracts of two key rail projects in Q4 of 2021. DOTR is currently working on two O&M concessions, one for the Metro Manila Subway Project and the other for the North South Commuter Railway System, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Public Private Partnership (PPP). By the third quarter of 2021, the agency expects to receive approval from the National Economic and Development Authority to start the bidding process for the O&M for the two projects.

In its first year of full operation, the PHP355 billion underground rail line is expected to service 370,000 passengers per day. The Metro Manila Subway Project will feature 15 stations when it is finished and fully operating, including a terminal station at Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3.
