Basic Energy Corporation has approved an additional investment of P13.6 million to develop a 50 MW wind power project in Mabini, Batangas, Philippines managed by its subsidiary Mabini Energy Corporation (MEC). This funding supports MEC’s joint development agreement with Tokyo-based Renova Incorporation.

The Mabini wind project, initiated in November 2022 by installing a 120-metre meteorological mast, aims to cater to local energy demand and promote economic growth. The project spans a 4,860-hectare area under a Wind Energy Service Contract (WESC) and includes light detection and ranging technology to measure wind speed and direction. The WESC ensures a 25-year term with a five-year pre-development phase and a possible 25-year extension, contributing to long-term energy sustainability in Batangas.
