Banpu Public Company Limited has signed a THB2.4 billion loan agreement with the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to support the deployment of 1,500 six-seater electric tuktuks (e-tuktuks) and associated charging stations for micro-scale transit services in Bangkok, Thailand. The funding will also support a 1.3 GWh expansion of a lithium-ion EV battery manufacturing facility in Jiangsu province, China.

Included in the package is a concessional loan of up to THB381.62 million, administered through the Clean Technology Fund (CTF). ADB will provide technical assistance, supported by the ASEAN Catalytic Green Finance Facility (ACGF), to assess the potential for micro-scale transit services in other Southeast Asian cities.

Currently, around 600 units of e-tuktuks are operated under the MuvMi brand by Urban Mobility Tech Company Limited, a unit of BANPU, in 12 major areas across Bangkok.
