Alstom Grid will supply three-phase shunt reactors for the Hongsa power plant in Lao PDR. The project is being developed jointly by Lao PDR and Thailand. The supply contract worth 102.39 billion kip was awarded by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT). Alstom Grid will supply 110-MVAr 525 kV shunt reactors, and eight 0.55 MVAr 110 kV neutral earthing reactors. The 1,878 MW coal-based power plant is scheduled to be completed in 2016
