The Government of Vietnam has launched the Asia Direct Cable (ADC), its largest-capacity subsea fibre-optic cable system. With a capacity of 50 Tbps and a total length of 9,800 km, the ADC connects Vietnam to major Asian data hubs including Singapore, Japan, and Hong Kong. This development significantly boosts international internet connectivity, surpassing the combined capacity of Vietnam’s five existing cables by 125 per cent.

Viettel owns the Vietnam branch and the landing station in Quy Nhon. The ADC is Vietnam’s first new subsea cable in eight years and part of a national plan to install 15 cables by 2030. Backed by a USD290 million consortium of nine Asian telecom companies, the ADC will enhance digital resilience, support smart cities and 5G, and position Vietnam as a regional digital hub.
