The Philippines, together with Malaysia and Indonesia, was awarded the “best in investment promotion” at the ninth China–ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO), an international trade fair co-sponsored by the ministries of commerce and trade and industry of China, the 10 ASEAN countries, and the ASEAN Secretariat. It aims to promote the ASEAN–China Free Trade Area (ACFTA) and generate opportunities for cooperation and development between the two groups. The Philippines’ Department of Trade and Industry and the Board of Investments made significant efforts to encourage the country’s participation in the investment component of CAEXPO. The country participated in and coordinated four major activities – namely, the CAEXPO roundtable meeting on cooperation; the promotion conference on the ASEAN industrial parks; the investment booth showcase; and the Philippine investment seminar – to enhance the Philippines’ working relations with the investment promotion agencies of China.
