ASEAN Electricity Transmission Report, 2025-34

The 1st edition of the ASEAN Electricity Transmission Report will analyse the growth and investment opportunities in the high-voltage electricity transmission sectors of eight ASEAN countries. It will include key trends, developments, latest data, and statistics (from 2015 to 2024), and offer growth projections up to 2034. The report will focus on the high-voltage transmission segment of 110 kV and above levels.

The report will have five distinct sections.

Part 1 will provide an introduction to the report and include the Executive Summary with key findings.

Part 2 of the report will analyze the performance of ASEAN’s electricity generation and transmission sectors over the past decade. It will examine the electricity industry structure in each country and evaluate the key developments and trends shaping the sector. In addition, the analyses of the industry’s performance and growth will be based on:

• Generation capacity trends, 2015 to 2024
• Production and Consumption trends, 2015 to 2024
• Transmission network and capacity for 2015 to 2024
  • Line length by voltage level
  • Transformer capacity
  • Number of substations/transformers

Part 3 will present forecasts and expected growth of ASEAN electricity generation and transmission sectors for the period 2025-34. It will examine the key growth drivers, and will provide an outlook and forecast for the ASEAN region. The power sector forecast will include:

• Forecasted demand and addition to generation capacity by 2034
• Forecasted growth in transmission network and capacity by 2034
  • Line length by voltage
  • Transformer capacity
• Forecasted investment in the transmission network
• Major transmission projects
  • Key national projects
  • Cross-border projects

Part 4 of the report will comprise the appendix and provide sources, methodology, and a list of abbreviations.

Part 5 of the report will comprise a database with detailed data and statistics since 2015, and forecasts for the period 2025-34 in a tabular format.

Part 1-4 of the report will be available in a PowerPoint format (converted to PDF) and Part 5 will be an Excel database.
