AP Renewables Incorporation (APRI), the geothermal arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation, and Aboitiz Renewables Incorporation (ARI) have signed an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract with Shandong Electric Power Engineering Consulting Institute Company Limited (SDEPCI) to develop the Bay Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Project in Barangay Bitin, Bay, Laguna, Philippines.
The project will integrate a BESS with APRI’s Makban geothermal plant, creating the first-ever hybrid BESS and geothermal system in the Philippines. The hybrid system is designed to enhance the Luzon Grid’s stability during peak demand and disruptions. The Bay BESS Project will contribute significantly to the country’s energy transition, providing a sustainable energy solution while also benefiting the surrounding communities.
