Thailand-based Amata Corporation Public Company (Amata), an industrial estate developer, will invest approximately USD1 billion to fund the construction of the Amata Smart and Eco City in Laos. The company has secured a concession from the Government of Laos to construct an industrial park on a 410-hectare site in the Luang Namtha province. Construction works are scheduled to start in early 2022, with the option to expand to a 20,000 hectares area in the subsequent phases.
With energy-efficient infrastructure and sustainable management, the industrial complex is expected to become a model for modern industrial parks in Laos. Amata also has plans to invite international corporations as well as Governments from China, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand to invest in the Amata Smart and Eco City project.
