Alstom has signed a 593 million baht contract to design and construct the track and to install a third rail electrification system under the 12.6 km green line extension between Bearing and Samutpakran in Bangkok. The project covers nine stations and will cater to about 57,000 passengers per day. In addition, Alstom will develop a depot facility. The contract has been awarded by CH. Karnchang Public Company Limited, which is the general contractor and designer of the project. The work is expected to begin by end-2014 and be completed by 2017.
