The Alexandria Port Authority and Malaysia are exploring expanded cooperation in maritime transport, port operations, trade and logistics following a visit by the Malaysian Ambassador to Egypt and a delegation.
Discussions focused on strengthening collaboration and exchanging expertise, with the Alexandria Port Authority highlighting Malaysia’s strategic role in global maritime trade through its location along the Strait of Malacca.
The Egyptian side presented recent developments at the Port of Alexandria, including upgrades to berths, terminals and logistics areas, as well as modernisation of operational systems and services aimed at improving the port’s capacity and competitiveness.
Both sides discussed establishing direct communication channels and designated contact points between their port authorities to turn potential areas of cooperation into concrete initiatives.
Malaysia expressed interest in expanding collaboration with Egypt and Alexandria Port across maritime transport, ports and logistics, while also supporting bilateral trade, exports and imports. The two sides are considering a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a framework for future cooperation.
