Thailand-based operator Advanced Info Service (AIS) is planning to invest an additional 20 billion baht to expand its network for the 2100 MHz band. Its board of directors has approved the investment plan that is in addition to the initial capex of 70 million baht set for the three years ending 2014. Under the network expansion plan, AIS plans to increase its number of 3G BTSs to 20,000 by 2014. AIS has stated that it will shift all the remaining 3G service users on its 900 MHz network to the 2100 MHz network by end-2014.
