Thailand-based operator Advanced Info Service (AIS) is planning to invest an additional 20 billion baht to expand its network for the 2100 MHz band. This move comes after its board of directors approved the investment plan that is in addition to the initial capex of the 70 million baht allocated for the three years ending in 2014. Under the network expansion plan, AIS intends to increase its number of 3G BTSs to 20,000 by 2014. AIS has stated that it will shift all the remaining 3G service users on its 900 MHz network to the 2100 MHz network by end-2014.
