Sweden-based AFRY has been appointed by Aboitiz Power Corporation as owner’s engineer for a 172 MWp solar project in the province of Negros Occidental in the Western Visayas region in the Philippines. The contract was awarded by Aboitiz Solar Power Incorporation which includes the plant’s construction and grid interconnection works. Further, AFRY will provide project management assistance, design review and support services during the construction and commissioning. 

The Calatrava project will span around 143 hectares and will have fixed ground-mounted solar panels. The facility, which is scheduled to go live by the end of 2024, will be connected to the 230 kV Calatrava substation. Construction works are set to start in September 2024. They will be executed by SUMEC Complete Equipment and Engineering Company Limited.

Calatrava is one of the five projects in Aboitiz Power’s solar portfolio. Aboitiz announced plans to build the Calatrava plant in August 2023.
