Manila Water Company Incorporated (MWC) has awarded Spain-based Acciona the contract to design and build the second phase of its water treatment plant in the Philippines. The company, in partnership with Prime Metro BMD Corporation and Santa Clara International, will carry out works on the East Bay 2 drinking water treatment plant (DWTP) in Laguna.
The scope of works includes a pre-treatment phase, ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and an 18,000-cubic metre storage tank for brine treatment. Additionally, the consortium will also operate and maintain DWTP for a period of one year.
The water treatment plant is expected to have a capacity of around 200,000 cubic meters per day (CMD). Water will be drawn from the Laguna Bay.
