AC Energy Corporation (ACEN), a subsidiary of Ayala Corporation, has commenced construction works on a 283 MW San Marcelino solar farm in the Philippines’ Zambales province. Power Construction Corporation of China Limited and PowerChina Philippines Corporation will serve as the main engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractors for the project.
Once operational, the solar complex is expected to produce over 421 GWh of electricity annually and offset approximately 290,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. Commercial operations are due to commence during the first half of 2023.
It is also estimated that the area where the solar farm will be cited offers an expansion potential of up to 700 MW.
