AC Energy Corporation (ACEN), a subsidiary of Ayala Group, has commenced the commercial operations on the 150 MW diesel power plant in Rizal, Philippines. The diesel power plant was constructed under a partnership with Axia Power Holdings Philippines Corporation, a subsidiary of Marubeni Corporation.
The new power plant is expected to reduce power supply disruptions by generating peaking and reserve power during the shutdown of the Malampaya gas field. The Malampaya gas-to-power facility, which accounts for nearly 30 per cent of Luzon’s power generation capacity, has been closed for maintenance since October 2, 2021.
