The American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) plans to open an ABS electrification centre to support maritime decarbonisation projects in Singapore. ABS will develop battery technologies, fuel cells and shore power connection technologies and will simultaneously understand the risks of electrified vessels and support infrastructure planning.
The centre will work closely on projects and initiatives from Singapore’s Maritime and Port Authority (MPA). Additionally, The centre will electrify the domestic craft sector.
Project timelines have not been disclosed as of yet.
