A consortium of Malaysian Pekerjaan Piasau Konkerit and China Harbour Engineering Company Limited has won a RM 306 million contract for Phase I of the Samalaju port project in Sarawak. The deal includes the construction and completion of the breakwater and associated works for the port’s development; the project is expected to be completed within 30 months. The port, being developed by Malaysia’s Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad, is scheduled to be completed by the second quarter of 2016. It will be able to process 18 mt of cargo per year and serve industries located at the Samalaju Industrial Park in Malaysia.
