Vietnam-based KIM LONG MOTOR has delivered 100 KIMLONG99 EV-G34 all-electric sleeper buses to Phuong Trang Passenger Transport Joint Stock Company (FUTA Bus Lines), marking the first deployment of locally developed and manufactured electric sleeper buses on Vietnam’s interprovincial routes. Designed for long-distance passenger transport, each bus features a 357 kWh BYD battery with an estimated range of 249 miles per charge. Equipped with two CCS2 charging ports compatible with 240 kW charging infrastructure, the buses can be fully charged in approximately 90 minutes. Each vehicle has 34 individual sleeping compartments and safety systems including ABS, traction control, regenerative braking and battery temperature management.
The buses are expected to enter service on interprovincial routes following the handover. KIM LONG MOTOR currently reports a 60 per cent localisation rate for the model and aims to increase this to 90 per cent by the end of 2026. The company is also working with BYD Battery Group on battery production and quality control, while FUTA EV Power’s planned charging network along major routes, rest stops and bus terminals is intended to support operations. The deployment builds on cooperation between the two companies, which has included 700 electric city buses operating in Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, and supports Vietnam’s transition towards greener transport under the government’s Decision No. 876/QD-TTg.
