Singapore’s Economic Development Board (EDB) and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) have provisionally awarded a combined 200 MW of new data centre capacity to Digital Realty, Equinix, Keppel Data Centres and ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), with each operator receiving 50 MW.
The projects will be developed on Jurong Island, where JTC is developing a low-carbon data centre park intended to leverage energy and infrastructure synergies across the island. The allocation was made under Singapore’s Data Centre Call for Applications 2 (DC-CFA2) following more than 20 proposals from local and international operators. The selected projects are required to exceed the programme’s minimum sustainability standards.
Each operator is expected to source more than 50 per cent of the proposed data centre capacity through green energy pathways, including biomethane, low-carbon ammonia, low-carbon hydrogen and building-integrated or building-applied photovoltaics. The facilities will also use liquid cooling, 100 per cent energy-efficient IT equipment and are required to achieve Green Mark DC Platinum Certification.
The allocation forms part of Singapore’s strategy to expand data centre capacity while managing constraints around power, land, water and carbon emissions. AI and advanced computing are key drivers, with the projects expected to support growing demand for AI, cloud, networking and enterprise workloads. The DC-CFA2 framework also assesses broader economic contributions, including investment, innovation, talent development, R&D collaboration with Singapore-based partners and ecosystem development. EDB and IMDA will monitor the sector and assess whether another data centre capacity allocation exercise is required within 18–24 months.
