Hitachi Rail awarded CBTC signalling contract for two new North-South Line stations in Singapore

Hitachi Rail has been awarded a signalling contract by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA) covering the integration of two new stations, NS3A and NS6, on the North-South Line. The contract includes system integration, testing and commissioning of the signalling systems, with works to be delivered by Hitachi Rail’s Singapore-based team while maintaining passenger services on the existing line.

The signalling works will use Hitachi Rail’s SELTRAC Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) technology to integrate both stations with the existing North-South Line infrastructure. NS3A will be constructed as an infill station on the existing alignment, while NS6 is planned as a future interchange with the Downtown Line 2 extension, supporting future network expansion and additional operational flexibility.

The contract forms part of Hitachi Rail’s ongoing signalling integration and rail modernisation work with LTA. SELTRAC CBTC is already deployed on metro networks in Singapore, London, New York and Hong Kong. The project is intended to introduce the two new stations while minimising disruption to existing North-South Line operations.
