Singapore’s East-West Line (EWL) has begun operating from the new East Coast Integrated Depot (ECID) following the completion of its connection to the facility in December 2025. The Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL) and Downtown Line (DTL) are expected to begin operating from the depot by the end of 2026, according to the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

The multi-storey ECID can house up to 220 trains and integrates depots for three MRT lines within a single facility. The Downtown Line depot is located underground, the Thomson-East Coast Line depot sits at ground level, and the East-West Line depot is positioned above them. Although the depots share some systems and facilities, each line’s operations remain independent. The integrated design allows Singapore to save around 44 hectares of land, equivalent to roughly 60 football fields.

The new depot significantly increases train stabling and maintenance capacity. ECID includes 38 stabling tracks capable of accommodating up to 76 trains, more than double the capacity of the former Changi Depot. The facility also features six examination tracks for routine inspections, two additional maintenance tracks for heavier repairs, and a test track that allows trains to be checked immediately after maintenance.

With the EWL depot now operational at ECID, the nearby Changi Depot will be decommissioned and demolished. The ECID is expected to become Singapore’s largest integrated rail and bus depot when fully operational in the second half of 2026, supporting the EWL, TEL, DTL and a bus depot within the same complex.
